Inspire Academy Movement Trust: Supporting the Mental Health of Pupils, Staff, and Parents
We have a successful and growing wellbeing department within the Inspire Academy Movement Trust, where we focus on fostering a positive environment that nurtures the mental, emotional and physical health of our children, staff and parents.
Our team is committed to implementing innovative programs and support systems that empower individuals, promote resilience, and strengthen our school community's overall well-being. We take immense pride in the profound impact our efforts have on enhancing the quality of life for everyone involved.
The wellbeing curriculum is designed for children from Early Years to Key Stage 2 (KS2). We teach life skills such as resilience, decision making and stress management, equipping children with practical skills they can use throughout their lives. A key aspect of our wellbeing curriculum is preparing children to handle real world issues and situations. Every child within the Trust receives weekly classes of wellbeing interventions.
Mental Health Ambassadors
As our Trust grows so does the need for mental health support and in October 2024, we began training eight members of staff to be mental health ambassadors. These individuals will play an invaluable role in helping to continue fostering an environment where our children feel comfortable discussing their emotions and seeking help when needed.
Staff wellbeing
We are committed to fostering a healthy workplace for our staff. Every staff member has access to free individual counselling with our Head of Wellbeing, Melanie Brocker. Early intervention is crucial for addressing mental health issues. As one of the few educational providers offering onsite counselling for staff, we help eliminate the often lengthy referral process and also reduce the costs associated with therapy. This support is an invaluable resource for our team.
Seal Community School Farm
Our school farm at Seal CE Primary is another example of our commitment to promoting the health and wellbeing of our children. A visit to the farm is often a highlight for many of our children across the Trust schools. We offer a hands-on, experiential learning approach allowing them to engage with various aspects of farming. Our farm curriculum boosts mental wellbeing, can enhance socials skills and helps a child build a healthy attachment to their environment.
Rights Respecting School Award
We are delighted to be part of UNICEF's Rights Respecting School Awards. This initiative helps us create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected and their talents nurtured, allowing them to thrive. We embed these values into our daily school life, providing children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and become responsible, active citizens.
