Nurturing the love of sports for young people pays off for Four Elms Primary!

We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the School Games Gold Mark for 2024/25. This Government-led award scheme rewards schools for their commitment to developing competitive sports across their school and community. This recognition reflects the dedication of all the teachers at Four Elms Primary School to promoting physical activity within our school.

Through structured PE, inclusive sports events and regular physical activity opportunities we have embedded a strong emphasis on physical well-being. Our pupils have experienced a broad range of activities and sports this year including fitness, netball, basketball, athletics, cricket and rounders. We encourage our pupils to develop new skills, work cooperatively in teams and achieve their personal best.

Staying physically active offers numerous benefits for primary school children.  It not only enhances their fitness levels but also teaches important values such as discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Additionally, we have observed that children who participate in sports, especially at school, experience positive effects on their mood and return to class feeling happy and ready to engage in their studies.

Headteacher Jess Fermor said,  “The school games mark is a great achievement for our school. It shows the dedication we all have to PE and physical activity at Four Elms. We will continue to strive for excellence in physical education and broaden pupils' knowledge of sports and physical activity within lesson, at lunchtimes and with extracurricular clubs.”

We look forward to continuing to nurture our children's love for sports and help them carry this love into their teenage years and beyond!
